Solid Wood
Constructed from solid timber staves, our timber work surfaces are carefully crafted to ensure maximum strength, stability and, if cared for, durability throughout years of constant use.
Timber work surfaces are available in 12 species:
Ash - Birch - Cherry - Iroko - Maple - Oak - Prime Beech
Rubberwood - Rustic Beech - Walnut - Wenge - Bamboo
Solid timber worktops can be crafted to your requirements, with special shapes, cut-outs for sinks & hobs, drainer grooves, end capping [essential next to Aga or range cookers ] and edge profiles and can be supplied in either 27mm , 40mm or 60mm thicknesses.
As with natural materials, a solid wood worksurface grows more beautiful with age and nothing can equal its timeless look & natural feel.
Maintenance: A solid wood surface finished with a polyurethane based varnish requires no maintenance at all. Nevertheless, some scratches, cut marks and other similar damages might be difficult to repair with touch-ups; therefore extra care will be required. On the other hand, a mineral oil finishing needs to be applied periodically but in turn, it allows you to easily fix minor damage, and to renew the surface whenever necessary.
Assuming you followed the instructions regarding finishing before installation, you will need to apply a new coat of oil every month during the first year and once every six months or so ever after. You should be advised, however, that there is not any carved in stone set of rules regarding how often you should re-oil your butcher block. A lot of external factors could come into play. Dry winter months, air conditioners, the vicinity of a stove burner, for instance, will cause the wood to dry up faster and, therefore, require a more frequent re-oiling. The golden rule, therefore, would be to apply a new coat of oil every time the wood begins loosing its “oily shine” and starts looking dry.
For maintenance purposes, you will need to oil the topside and the edges only. As the wood is already saturated, it might take a bit longer for the oil to completely cure and some excess oil might remain on the top surface.
Sanding the damaged area and re-oiling it can conveniently repair almost any scratch, cut mark, watermark, food stain, or similar damage. Similarly, if you choose to re-shape your solid wood top, you have to subsequently oil carefully all the exposed areas.

Solid Surface
Acrylic solid surfacing provides a perfectly smooth and tactile surface that allows inconspicuous jointing and edging. Seams are fused together to provide a flush and moisture resistant bond across the surfaces. These seamless and joint less worktops are pleasantly warm to the touch. The surface is absolutely pore less and therefore extremely hygienic, making it impossible for dirt and bacteria to gain a foothold, every day stains can be removed with just soap and water. .
Getacore, Encore and Maia worktops are manufactured in a blank form similar to standard laminate worktops however with the added advantage of inconspicuous joints, curved ends, under-mount sinks and draining board grooves.
Solid surfaces can, in principle, be processed like solid wood. For instance, the surface can be very finely sanded in a similar manner to wood parquet. The advantage being that minor traces of use or damage can be simply removed and your worktop is as good as new.
All sinks and basins are available fully fitted or as individual items. The gradual formation of cracks is excluded with GetaCore, even when exposed to alternating hot and cold temperatures, the sinks and basins do not discolour.

Granite Worktops
Granite kitchen worktops could be ideally suited for your kitchen requirements. To help you decide we have prepared some guidelines.
Granite kitchen worktops have a polished surface which will retain its polish and colour for a great many years and the only maintenance required is regular washing with clean, hot, soapy water to remove surface dirt.
Spillages such as wines, oils and acidic substances should be wiped clean immediately to prevent the possibility of staining.
Granite kitchen worktops are highly heat resistant and hot pans can be placed directly on the surface for short periods making it ideal in the kitchen.
As with any high quality granite worktops, care should be taken against possible scoring of granite worktops with knives or other cutting tools and chopping-boards should always be used.
Unlike many other surface materials, granite offers a prestigious look and provides durability.

PYROLave Glazed Volvic Lava Stone (new)
Extracted from the Nugere crater at the heart of Auvergne 's volcanoes, Volvic lava, this consistent and dense stone has exceptional qualities created by time. The extremely resistant blocks are extracted by hand from open-air quarry. They are then cut into slabs, processed and glazed. The expertise of the Pyrolave engineers allow them to select enamels not just for their beauty but for their resistance and resilience after being fired at more than 1000°C. Delicate crazing appears on the surface during cooling. Being more or less prominent – subject to the colour, these fine lines are the inimitable signature of the glazed lava stone. SITE
